Sarasota Hosts Modern Pentathlon

Modern PentathlonFor the first time in more than four decades, one of the most elegant Olympic sports will hold its international championship on American soil. Sarasota-Bradenton sets the stage for the 2014 Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final. From June 5-8 the Selby Aquatic Center and Sarasota Polo Club at Lakewood Ranch will serve as competition venues for the games. The Pentathlon is considered the ultimate sport, testing the skills of what is considered the “complete athlete.” Each competitor must prove themselves in each of five skills: fencing, swimming, running, laser pistol shooting and equestrian jumping.
