Lakewood Ranch Information

As a 25-year resident of the Sarasota area I can tell you that Lakewood Ranch is an extremely popular area and is one of the nicer areas to live on Florida's Gulf coast - it's very nicely manicured throughout and there are many, many walking trails, lakes, and public parks to add ambiance. It's self-sufficient with grocery stores, gas stations, A+-rated schools, and even a downtown area with a movie…

Sarasota County Real Estate Market Maintains Hot Pace In September 2014

The Sarasota County real estate market remained on pace for near record sales numbers in September 2014, ending the month with 934 closed transactions - 14 percent higher than last September when 817 properties changed hands. Sales for the first three-quarters of the year now stand at 8,784, about 200 sales over last year's pace which wound up as the second highest sales year in the county's history. A strong…

Suncoast Regional YPN RealTOUR Event – Selby Gardens

My group recently had the opportunity to attend the Selby Gardens 'Sunsets at Selby' event at Selby Gardens in Sarasota.  I've been there many times over the 25 or so years that I've lived here but I was blown away by the renovations they've completed in the last six months: where before there was a giant courtyard surrounding their 100-year-old banyan tree (which is a marvel in itself) they've now…

Zillow Buys Trulia for $3.5 Billion – Can Real Estate Survive?

Let me start by saying that I personally and professionally like Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.com. It's incredibly clear that internet advertising is the most effective form of advertising and at least these companies provide a great centralized medium for agents to advertise. The long and the short of it is that buyers overwhelmingly LOVE these sites, so if we as agents don't accept them, we're fighting a losing battle against the…

Jurassic Park Meets I-4 At Dinosaur World

My friends and I have a long running gag in which we tag each other on Facebook every time we pass the Plant City T-Rex poking his head out among the trees along I-4.  What started out as a quick joke post has become a full-fledged tagfest with pokes, tags, and innuendos galore - and yet, none of us has ever ACTUALLY BEEN to Dinosaur World.  None of us, that is, until…

30th Annual Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix Festival Coming Soon!

The 2014 Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix Festival will start on June 28th and continue until the big race day on July 6th. As far back as I can remember, one of the things I enjoyed when I visited my parents in Sarasota in the summertime was the boat parade. This still takes place but the festival has grown to a 9 day event which has a variety of activities…

First Watch Restaurant in Sarasota

Way back when, in the 1980′s a trip to Sarasota was not complete without at least one stop at the quite novel First Watch Restaurant at 8383 S Tamiami Trail. In those days it was not common to find a breakfast, lunch or brunch restaurant with health minded food, what a fabulous concept! The smell of coffee and toast, so inviting. In those days the First Watch Restaurant was a…
